The Collective art centre on Calton Hill has cut ties with sponsor Baillie Gifford after artists raised concerns about the investment company’s reported links to the ongoing suffering in Gaza.
The six artists involved in the gallery’s ‘Satellites’ programme spoke exclusively to the Edinburgh Culture Minute. They highlighted Baillie Gifford’s investments in companies with connections to Israel’s military. Having convinced Collective to take a stance, the group is now urging ‘all art workers and institutions with an association with Baillie Gifford to refuse funding from them’.
Bosses at Collective confirmed they’ve withdrawn from a funding agreement with Baillie Gifford. They said:
