⮑ Reminder: no purely commercial business ads please; local events and news only. Some readers questioned why I allowed a funeral director’s message in yesterday’s noticeboard. Fair question! It was allowed because it was a new business opening in Barnton. Announcements of new business openings are allowed (as hyperlocal news) but general ads for repeat ongoing business are not. This is an otherwise ad-free space and I make a conscious effort (and turn down significant offers) to keep it ad-free and free to access for all. It was a promise on day one and I’ve kept that promise to you. Now let’s see what’s in today’s inbox:
📌 “Join us on Wednesday 25 September at Counter Edinburgh for a Surrealist themed collage workshop celebrating nature! You will be guided through playful creative prompts and learn new techniques to craft unique compositions using vintage ephemera, magazines, and colourful paper stocks provided for this workshop. Space is limited; book now.” - Thanks to the workshop facilitators for sharing this.
📌 “The Chicken Coop Writing Group returns to Lost in Leith Bar on Tuesday, September 24 for a hilarious and humourous look at work and corporate culture, questioning how we interact with and in these spaces, how they require us to change our external presentation and appearance, how they push our boundaries physically, mentally, emotionally, and politically, and how we can protect ourselves and support each other. Writers of all levels and genres are welcome to these pay-what-you-can sessions where host Naomi Head will be guiding you through open-ended, multi-disciplinary prompts and holding space for a supportive (but not compulsory) sharing session.” - Thanks to host Naomi Head for sharing this.
📌 “Explore creativity and enhance your mental well-being at the Women Healing Art Circle at the Salisbury Centre. Join us on Thursday 19th September for our first meeting in a welcoming and supportive environment. Participants will explore themes such as identity, emotions, and womanhood through art. No prior art experience is required.” - Thanks to Gabriella for sharing this.

Agree with you, re: including details about the new funeral director branch in Barnton. At C&B News we also give new businesses in the locality an opportunity for some editorial, because it's newsworthy. But any longterm advertorial is a no-no.
